Web-Schnipsel: Das Lost World Museum
Das Lost World Museum ist (passend zum gestrigen Beitrag) angetreten, die Welt als Schöpfungsakt Gottes zu “beweisen”:
The mission of the Lost World Museum is to present the greatest evidence ever assembled which validates the creation account found in the book of Genesis.
We will explore past archeological finds and perhaps offer an alternative explanation as we present: the Giants of the pre-flood world, the remnants of ancient technology, the existence of Noah’s Ark, evidence for a worldwide flood, anomalous fossils and out of place artifacts.
We will use the creative marketing techniques of P.T. Barnum [Besitzer des prominenten American Museums, einer Mischung aus Kuriositätenkabinett und völkerkundlicher Ausstellung im Amerika des 19. Jh., Anm.] to arrest the public’s attention while providing the resources to answer that age-old question: “Is it Apes, Aliens or Adam?”
Noch sieht man nicht viel; das Museum (bzw. die Website) befindet sich noch im Aufbau, soll aber noch diesen Spätsommer öffnen. Ausgestellt werden sollen Artefakte wie das Kätzchen Cy, das im Januar diesen Jahres mit nur einem Auge und ohne Nase und Augenlid zur Welt gekommen war. Es hatte nur einen Tag gelebt, jedoch heftige Debatten über seine Authentizität ausgelöst. - Wieviel Geld an die Katzenbesitzer (die im übrigen mit den Überzeugungen der Museumskuratoren sympatisieren sollen) geflossen ist, bleibt unbekannt.
Konzept und Zielgruppe des Museums stellt John Adolfi, der neben dem Lost World Museum auch die Bibelland Studios besitzt, in einem Interview mit Roadside America, wie folgt dar:
“Our audience will be the secular, non-church-going community,” John says. “We’re gonna do things a little more flamboyantly and overtly.” John not only wants artifacts and exhibits that disprove evolution, but that also have “a great deal of buzzability.” For example, a planned exhibit of a spark plug encased in stone will show “that rock can form quickly, which helps prove the idea that the Grand Canyon was laid within in weeks, months, years, after a worldwide flood — not millions of years.”A key focus of the Lost World Museum will be giant animals and people. “Adam and Eve were the first giants. They were more than twice as tall as we are today.” John wants to have as many big creatures for his museum as possible, which guarantees that its exhibit space will always be jam-packed. “We wanna show the 13-foot-long kangaroos, the five-foot-tall penguins, the eight-foot-long beavers.” John already has “a replica of the world’s largest baby ever born to giants,” and a replica of a thigh bone from a 14-foot-tall man, which “was seen during an excavation during the 1950s in the Middle East and later destroyed.”
Auch Dinosaurier gehören zu den Exponaten des 25 Mio. Dollar Projekts in der Nähe von Cincinatti - sogar ein Tyrannosaurus Rex, der “missionary lizard”. “When people realize the T. rex lived in Eden, it will lead us to a discussion of the gospel. The T. rex once was a vegetarian, too,” so der Vizepräsident des Museums zur Washington Post.
Während sich Anthropology.net für die folkloristischen Hintergründe und Folgen des Lost World Museums (im übrigen nicht das einzige dieser Art) interessiert und die Angelegenheit überhaupt nicht so ganz ernst nimmt, forschen Wissenschaftler der “post-Babel studies”, der “floodology” und “post-diluvium studies” im Hochland von Neuguinea nach Sauriern der Gattung Pterodaktylus. (Nach lebenden, natürlich. Denn wo steht in der Bibel, dass T. Rex & Co. ausgestorben sind? Noahs Arche war groß …)
Kurz und prägnant zusammengefasst, vertritt das Lost World Museum dieselbe These wie Kenneth Ham von Answers in Genesis, einer der größten internationalen Kreationismus-Marketing-Organisationen weltweit, der sogar viele Theorien des “Intelligent Design” noch zu “evolutionär” sind :
“We are telling you unashamedly that the word of the Bible is the way.”
Punkt. Alle Fragen geklärt.
